The place of Jenig lies on the sunny side of Gailtal valley, in the center of the skiing and natural arena Nassfeld. It has been inhabited since ancient times, ruins of the Roman fortification walls Hadnmauer bear witness to this. The development of tourism in the place begins in 1873 with the founding of a post office. Locals look back to 1917 with great pride, when Empress Zita von Habsburg stayed here. Today, this traditionally agricultural area offers guests its best products - renowned Gailtal bacon and alpine cheese
